Or should that be…

He had pulled a stool to their booth from a nearby table.”

Or maybe…

He pulled a stool to their booth.”

Perhaps…

A stool had been pulled by him to their booth.”

Hmm… does he even need to pull a stool?

What if there was already a stool?

What does it say about the setting if the stool is already there?

What about him?

How does this action reflect on his motivations? Couldn’t he just stand or crouch?
